Vernon County: send an email to inquire.

La Crosse and Houston Counties: Once a year Habitat for Humanity-La Crosse Area holds Homeowner Expos at which we explain the homeownership program in detail. This is the only times we accept applications from people interested in becoming Habitat homeowners.

Houston County: The next Homeowner's Expo will be held in late 2010.

La Crosse County: The next Homeowner's Expo will be held on July 31, 2010. Click here for details.

Expo Details

Representatives from the Family Selection Committee are on hand to explain the Habitat program in detail, and to assist people in filling out the applications. Attendance at a Homeowner's Expo is mandatory to receive an application.

The Family Selection then reviews the applications, based upon the four criteria we use to select partner families: need, ability to pay, willingness to partner, residency. If an applicant does not meet selection criteria, he or she will be notified. If the applicant does meet our criteria, a credit report will be run and a representative from the Family Selection Committee will schedule an interview and a home visit.
