The sole purpose of the Soak It Up! project is to educate our local community about the negative effects of stormwater runoff and what you can do to properly manage and reduce runoff pollution.
At the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, the Soak It Up! project includes four biofilters, 700 native plants, regrading to improve water flow and retention, a naturalized drainage area, a hugelkultur swale to soak up and make use of runoff, a large rain barrel, food-bearing trees and shrubs, raised garden beds, a break area for employees, and pervious pavement options.
There are also permanent educational signs explaining each feature and the positive impacts these features provide our community. |
