2023: What a Year for Team Habitat!

We are Team Habitat

As housing costs skyrocket, our mission is more important than ever. Our expert and caring staff, Board members, and volunteers work hard so that every family can have a decent, safe, and affordable place to call home.

The past year has been a year of “firsts.” With unprecedented organizational growth and increasing inequality, we come together with a greater commitment to serving the housing needs of our community.

Focus on programming

We continue to help more and more families achieve the dream of homeownership. This year, we had a record-breaking twelve homes under construction at one time! Our Homeownership Program has grown our staff, added modular housing as an affordable new option, started construction on our second Habitat for Heroes Veteran Home, and built our first fully solar home in Arcadia.

Our ReClaim Program had a record year, with more projects, more materials diverted from the landfill, and two full-time staff. We also added two new programs. The RePair Program boasts four full-time staff providing income-eligible and market rate repairs for homeowners. Our new Sustainability Department is creating new programs and opportunities to integrate neighborhood revitalization, energy efficiency, and smart land-use into everything we do.

Focus on telling our story

After adding Monroe County, we changed our name to reflect our expanded service area. We are now officially Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region. We launched our Team Habitat campaign, creating cohesive messaging around the amazing things our organization is doing. With our new image and new website, we are committed to sharing the stories and the impact of the important work we do.

Focus on advocacy

Working with our partners, we are educating the community about housing issues; advocating for funding and change at the local, state, and federal level; and finding innovative ways to address the issues. We are amplifying the voices of our minority and marginalized neighbors.

This has been an exciting year at Habitat for Humanity. Thank you to our staff, board, volunteers, and donors for all your hard work and support! We have only good things to come in the new year.
